This topic is one of my absolute favorites. I believe that most "altruists" are simply ignorant of their own motivations, or deceitful in an unexplored way. Looked at in a simple way - would you want your spouse or girlfriend or boyfriend to love you out of a perceived "duty" or responsibility to you - or would you rather they love you because it excites them or fulfills them?? The answer is at the very heart of living for yourself and finding a path to true honesty. Without which we cannot expect to fulfill anyone else.
