Hi Cheryl, thanks for your comment!

Indiana has certainly had it's share of controversies regarding daylight saving time. I'm sorry to hear that it's caused so much frustration for you and hope that it will be straightened out eventually.

Citizens of other states please be aware of the following. When Indiana (EST for US DOT purposes only) adopted DST in 2006, we went from year round daylight (Central starts at 82.5 degrees west and our state starts at 84.5) to 8 months of two hours of daylight and 4 months of one hour of daylight. It wouldn't be so difficult except that all of our schedules were designed around Central time so EVERYTHING starts early. Most schools start before 8:00 so the kids catch buses in almost year round darkness. However, we have light after 9:00 from the first week of April until Labor Day. And yes, we have light after 10:00 in the middle of the summer. Sigh.

Hi Karen, thanks for sharing your experience! Have you considered trying to stay on daylight savings time all year around? It should be possible if you have some flexibility with your work schedule. When the time is moved back in the fall, you can try going to bed and waking up an hour later which would effectively offset the change in time and keep your sleep schedule the same. Time is just a number, but it's likely that your body knows what time it really is based on the earth's constantly changing magnetic field.

Hi I love daylight savings time so much that i wish it was in effect all year round. Im from melbourne and struggle to get up normally i could hibernate during winter, i am late to work every day, i lack any flight or fight response to my 4 alarms i just snooze away, i have terrible sleeps during the night. But as soon as daylight savings is here i am ready to make the most out of my day, im happier to get up and want to go to work earlier so i get home earlier - during normal time i always had the intention and tried to motivate myself to do this but never could it is always an uphill battle and mental fight. But with daylight savings im a new person.
