waterDespite the urgent need we have for water, nearly all sources of it are contaminated and present significant health risks.

The Shameful Facts

Within the past century, the extensive use of chemicals in agriculture and big industry has polluted every source of water on the planet. Traces of toxic synthetic chemicals can even be found in polar icecaps and the Arctic Ocean. A Hidden Danger with Nuts, Grains, Beans and Seeds

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Whole grains, beans, nuts, and seeds are widely recognized as healthy foods, but without taking a few important precautions, they may not be nearly as healthy as you think.

Most people buy grain products that are heavily processed and nuts that are roasted and salted. The processing involved reduces the nutritional quality of the food and usually involves the addition of unhealthy additives. If it’s not enough that people eat these processed varieties on a regular basis, the problem is made worse by some of the undesirable substances that exist in grains, beans, nuts, and seeds when they’re not prepared properly. As such, it’s best to buy these foods in their natural and whole form, or as close to it as possible, and prepare them yourself. If that’s not possible, you should at least buy from companies that have already done the work for you.

Are You Eating Toxic Meat?

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

When the topic of organic food comes up, most people think of fruit, vegetables, and perhaps dairy, but almost always fail to consider meat. This is an unfortunate mistake because meat from conventionally raised livestock comes with significant risk.

You Are What You Eat

Each of the trillions of cells that we’re made of are created from the nutrients we eat. While a healthy diet will support optimal cell function, a poor diet will promote cell malfunction and lead to disease. As the saying goes, we are what we eat!

This applies to animals as well. If forced to eat poor quality food, they’ll likely become sick and develop disease. By eating meat from these unhealthy animals, you’re relying on a poor source of nutrition and are consuming the toxic chemicals that made them sick. They’ll eventually make you sick as well. In other words, you are what your food ate! This is an important concept to keep in mind throughout the rest of the article.

Why Splenda isn’t so Splendid

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

If you’re using Splenda and think it’s a safe alternative to sugar, there’s some alarming information you need to know!

Splenda is an artificial sweetener that has become very popular based on it’s origin from sugar, and more notably, the claim that it has zero calories. Splenda also goes by the chemical name of sucralose. The simple fact that Splenda even has a chemical name should be the first sign of danger.

A Frightening Similarity to Outlawed Pesticide DDT

Sucralose is produced by replacing three oxygen-hydrogen groups of a sugar molecule with chlorine atoms. Based on this addition of chlorine, sucralose is a member of the chlorocarbon family of chemicals which are known to cause damage to organs, genes, and the reproductive system in addition to causing a host of other smaller problems.

7 Major Reasons to Go Organic

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

You may think you’re eating well by consuming vegetables and unprocessed whole foods, but they too come with some significant risks.

Health or Profit?

Like any other industry, the food industry is primarily concerned about making money. That may sound harsh and hard to believe, but when you think about it, it’s really not. The tobacco and alcohol industries don’t seem too concerned about helping to kill hundreds of thousands of people each year.

This precedent set by the tobacco and alcohol industries makes it easy for the food industry to prioritize profit in a way that significantly affects our health. However, food is essential for health and survival. Contamination of this basic requirement for life has significant consequences that are far more subtle than those resulting from alcohol and tobacco use.
