The Stupidity of the Smart Choices Food Label

Smart Choices ProgramThe food industry claims to be doing us a favor by implementing a new food labeling system that will help us make better choices at the grocery store. However, a closer look reveals that it’s probably nothing more than a marketing campaign.

This labeling system is known as the Smart Choices Program and the foods that it endorses bear a badge with a green check mark. Despite the name of the program, some of the foods that proudly display the green check mark aren’t smart choices at all.

Fortunately, there’s one basic and foundational principle of healthy nutrition that clears the confusion and makes it much easier to eat well.

Health Care ReformAs promised, president Obama has been focused on making major changes to our broken health care system. Despite the volatile mix of passionate support and heated opposition that it’s inspired, both sides are completely neglecting the most important issue.

There’s no doubt that health insurance is important. We all want the comfort of knowing that we can rely on quality health care during times of need without incurring a lifetime of debt. Unfortunately, the rapidly growing cost of health care has risen out of reach for many people, and as a result, has created a significant challenge for the US government that is likely to affect us all.

Food, Inc. the MovieThe majority of the population has no idea about the corruption, greed, and arrogance that our food system is based on or how much of an effect these factors have on our health and the welfare of the planet. It can be very difficult to convince others of the severity of this problem, but we fortunately don’t have to because the movie Food, Inc. does a great job of this.

Normally, when I write about a book or movie, I like to share some of the more important and interesting information that I learned. I’m not going to do this with Food, Inc. because I think it’s an extremely important documentary that everyone needs to see!

FullBar: A Weight Loss Strategy That’s Full of Nonsense

FullBarPart of the reason why people have so much trouble eating well, losing weight, and being healthy is the marketing of products that gives them false hope of a quick and easy solution. FullBar is such a product, and unfortunately, it steers people away from the truth about nutrition, health, and weight loss.

One of the rare and recent occasions that I was watching television, I saw a commercial for FullBar and was inspired by the misleading marketing to write about it.

With the many conveniences of modern society, most of us have completely lost touch with the basic lifestyle habits that our ancestors followed and evolved on for more than 2 million years. As a result, we also tend to underestimate the intelligence of nature and the important lifestyle factors that allowed many of our ancestors to be lean, strong, happy, and healthy well into their old age.

Acai BerriesThe acai berry has received an incredible amount of publicity over the past few years and has become an extremely popular health food supplement. Despite the high demand for acai berry products and their expensive prices, they’re not the magical solution that many people consider them to be.

Acai berries are the fruit of a palm tree that’s native to Central and South America and are often described as having a taste that resembles a mix of raspberry and chocolate. Although they’re frequently advertised as having incredible health benefits, many of the claims about acai berry products are nothing but hype.
