Great article. Finding your strengths and then applying these strengths in every area of your life is critical as each of us strives to reach our full potential.

I've had the same experience and I think it's a great example of why the StrengthsFinder philosophy is so interesting. Why resist the negative aspects of this characteristic when you can focus on benefiting from it's positive aspects?

I think some of the obvious benefits of this tendency is that it reduces the likeliness of entering into unhealthy relationships that aren't worth having and makes it easier to get the most value out of good relationships. I think this characteristic can be especially useful in building a strong and fulfilling marriage.

Hi Vin, thanks for the thorough write-up about the book. I've yet to pick it up, but like you, I'm a rather private person who approaches any relationship gingerly, at least at the initial stage. It wouldn't be wrong to call my blog "The Conscious and Cautious Life". :)

I always thought it's a trait that I should at least try to change, though with little success so far. It's interesting to know that it can be a strength too. Hmm...how so, I wonder. You've given me something to meditate over. Thanks!

Have a great weekend.
