Thank you, Sara! I'm glad you enjoyed the article.

You have a good point. I guess a lot of it depends on personality and how each of us are most likely to be influenced. I could imagine a more intense documentary such as Food, Inc. maybe being too over the top for some people and turning them off rather than encouraging them to make healthier and more conscientious choices. However, I can't imagine anyone finding it boring.

I just gave a talk last night to a group that has a number of pretty hard-sell corporate types, and I wish I had read your posting beforehand so I could have had a bit more continuity like you offer here. Nicely written.

The one thing that struck me about your wish that Fresh the Movie be stronger in its message, is that it seems that the folks who need to hear the message most would be even more put off (or bored, or disinterested) if it were extreme. I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know, but I'm thinking of how Michael Moore's movie reach the sympathetic or easily swayed audience and just bolster the opposition. Those who don't believe say they want proof, but really they just want to pick a fight and defend their stance. Kinda like me, I guess...

Thanks for your comment, Ægil! In my opinion, the most important thing to consider when trying to encourage family is to not be too aggressive and end up making them less interested. I also think you're right about not setting a schedule. Everyone is different and it will take some people longer than others to come around, and unfortunately, some may never come around at all.

Oh, I have read a zen habits article about how to live without the clock, I cancel the three years part, I will just emphasize on the progress based on the health facts followed and actions taken. Measuring time just makes me unnecessarily feel anxious!

Hearing how the big entities truly work makes me feel more flabbergasted with each new chunk of fact. I other words, I feel truly surprised!

I think my family is more open to my health ramblings based on what I have learnt on the WorldWideWeb, especially my mother, but for my father and brother, I'm not sure.

But this is just the beginning, and I estimate at least 3 years (to be fair) for my goal of achieving a healthy family. As you told me I should not be obsessed, and as rat race trap and zen habits said I should accept things as they are at the moment.

easy come, easy go!

ps. I think a site mind map could be useful as a site summary. I am connecting the dots with what I have learnt lately.

Thank you Karen and Kelly for your comments!

Karen - Yes, baby steps! I think it's most effective to focus on the effects that poor dietary choices will have on their life. Once they come around, they will be more open to realizing the impact that their choices can have elsewhere.

Kelly - Absolutely! My wife has come a long way, but unfortunately, I can't say the same for the rest of my family. In my wife's case, I think it helped that she saw much more of what I went through with my own health than anyone else did.

Vin, don't ya just hate that when those you love aren't as "into it" as you are? Thankfully over time more and more of our friends are becoming as weird as me, but not enough of my family are there yet... :)

Thanks for the review - I hadn't heard of this film.
It's my goal to get people to change their eating habits, starting with educating them about where their food is coming from; but I can't help feeling a little frustrated when tell me they really don't want to know! Baby steps...

That's an excellent article, Sue! Thanks for digging it up! :) There's no doubt in my mind that diet can have a significant impact on mood and behaivor. I've experienced it myself! In addition to the blood sugar regulation and vitamins mentioned in the article, neurotransmitter balancing through amino acids and Metabolic Typing can be significant factors as well.

Vin I dug deep and found the article about the high school food program. Posted it on my blog so more people can see it. Here's the link. http://is.gd/22zk7
Note the date 2005. I met a woman much later who was a teacher in this school district. She said it became a model for many schools. Great ideas. Thanks for asking. Now I have it archived. Sue
