Blood sugar is vital to human function and must be consistently kept at a steady level to maintain good health. The failure to do so is a primary cause of many modern health complaints and diseases.
Blood sugar is the glucose that circulates in the blood stream and provides cells with much of the energy they need to function. It’s most commonly obtained through the digestion of food and is especially important to the brain and nervous system. Because of the many critical functions that depend on it, and because it’s toxic in excessive concentrations, blood sugar levels that are too low or too high can be extremely dangerous and are dealt with by the body in an urgent manner.

Provoked by high rates of skin cancer, many people avoid the sun as much as possible and cover themselves with sunscreen before spending any time outdoors. Sadly, these people are actually increasing their risk for cancer and other diseases.
For millions of years, humans have spent many hours out in the sun each day without the protection of sunscreen. As such, it seems completely backwards for this natural and essential part of life to be considered dangerous. A closer look at the issue reveals that it is indeed backwards and that the fear of sun exposure is the real problem.

Although there are many different forms of heart disease, atherosclerosis is the one that typically inspires most concern. It’s characterized by hardened arteries that restrict the flow of blood to the heart and is caused by the scar tissue created through the repair of cellular damage within the arterial lining. The scar tissue associated with atherosclerosis is susceptible to rupturing and can cause a blood clot that may further restrict, or even completely block, the flow of blood to the heart.
The materials that accumulate in the artery wall in response to cell damage are collectively referred to as plaque. As one of these materials, cholesterol earned it’s bad reputation simply by being at the scene of the crime.

Many people consider a healthy lifestyle to be a preference, almost as if it were a hobby, but with the prevalence of life threatening disease, can you really afford to have this attitude?
Because much of the health information that’s flooded through mainstream media is so misleading, many people are shocked by the simplicity and effectiveness of natural health. Despite this, they still react as if a healthy lifestyle is only for people with some type of special interest or motivation. This unfortunate mentality ultimately prevents many millions of people from living the long and happy life that they had always pictured and hoped for.

In the spirit of April Fool’s Day, I’m going to discuss a serious topic that many of us wish was just a joke, but really isn’t.
The majority of today’s mainstream health knowledge is filled with misinformation, contradiction, and even intentional deception. This has a significant impact on our health, and at times, it’s so unbelievable that it really could seem like an awful joke.
It took me a long time to realize that most common knowledge is often incorrect, particularly in regards to health. If it weren’t for my critical nature and my tendency to persistently seek truth, I may have never realized it, and some people never do. Coming to this realization and having the confidence to question common knowledge is one of the most important things you can do for your health.

Do you know that dehydration can be promoting disease within your body at this very moment?
Most people realize that dehydration is a problem, but few understand that it can actually cause disease. In his book, Your Body’s Many Cries for Water, Fereydoon Batmanghelidj MD explains the significant role that water plays in the following conditions and how dehydration can cause them.
Gastritis and Ulcers
The stomach contains a mucosal layer that protects it’s lining from the highly corrosive hydrochloric acid used to digest food. While it’s the sodium bicarbonate in this mucosal layer that neutralizes hydrochloric acid and protects the stomach lining from it, 98% of this layer is water.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey is an extremely popular book that has inspired many people’s lives. While it’s primarily about personal development and productivity, the fundamental concepts also apply extremely well to improving your health and well being.
Much of what we appreciate most in life we produce ourselves. As such, our capability to produce is a key factor in the value we experience from life. By improving our capability to produce what we appreciate most, we increase the satisfaction and fulfillment that we experience. This is the nature of being highly effective and is the focus of the 7 habits.

Can you please explain why women are hormonal when they are pregnant and do you recommend any particular type of foods that may help alleviate the symptoms?
By “hormonal”, I’ll assume that you’re referring to the severe mood swings that many women experience during pregnancy.
Mood swings are also a common symptom of PMS, and in both cases, hormone imbalance is a likely cause. Unfortunately, hormone imbalance is quite common and is often a result of the unhealthy habits that our modern lifestyles promote. While there are many health factors that can cause moodiness, female hormone imbalance will be the focus of this discussion.

While there are mixed opinions on the benefits of daylight saving time, there’s undeniable evidence that it can have a notable impact on your health.
History of Daylight Saving
Although daylight saving affects life in a variety of ways, including health and even crime, it’s original intention has always been to save money. In the late 1800s, Benjamin Franklin realized that many people were staying awake well past sunset and awaking well after sunrise. Candles were being burned late into the night while hours of sunlight were being wasted each morning. Franklin saw this as a tremendous money saving potential.
