Business Athlete Doing DeadliftBeing an athlete is often associated with extraordinary physical talent, but in my opinion, it’s more about the ability to perform physically and mentally at a high level which is something everyone should strive for, even if you have no interest in sports whatsoever.

The Definition of a True Athlete

Ironically, many athletes, even at the professional level, are unhealthy. While they may run fast, jump high, and have an amazing physique, the inside of their body could very well be in disastrous shape. Because of the extreme physiological burden that athletes put on their body, they have even more of a need to follow healthy lifestyle habits than the average person, but very few of them do. The excessive amount of activity coupled with inadequate rest and nutrition amounts to a body that is being gradually destroyed from the inside.

How Reading Can Change Your Life

Reading in NatureDespite the overwhelming feeling that comes along with the need or desire to learn a new skill or make an important decision, there’s almost always someone we can learn from who has overcome the same challenge. Between books, video, and the internet, we have more access to useful information than ever, but few of us take nearly as much advantage of it as we could.

Almost everything we do in life requires the knowledge of how to do it and this is especially the case when pursuing an important goal. As such, getting what we want out of life often requires a genuine commitment to learning.

Fresh the Movie: Your Part in Our Broken Food System

Fresh the MovieFresh the Movie is a documentary about food quality, sustainable farming, and the major flaws of our food system. Based on the excitement surrounding this film, I had high expectations for it and thought it could potentially have a significant impact on the many people who are making misguided dietary decisions. Without a doubt, it’s an excellent documentary that everyone should see, but it in regard to it’s potential to provoke change, it fell short of what I was hoping for.

The average consumer typically doesn’t understand or care about the health or environmental consequences of eating processed food. If they do happen to choose whole foods, they’re even less likely to realize that the conventionally farmed produce and meat in most grocery stores has health and environmental consequences as well. Fresh the Movie provides a great synopsis of these problems, but I question if it’s message is strong enough to inspire the average consumer to make a change.
