My experiences with poor health and overcoming chronic fatigue syndrome have significantly influenced my philosophy on health and life in general. Much of what I write about is based on these experiences, and as such, I’d like to share with you the story of my most meaningful accomplishment in hopes that it will help inspire you to take better care of yourself.
From Bad to Worse
As a child, I was often sick and frequently suffered from stomach pain and headaches. It certainly didn’t help that I ate a lot of processed foods and was frequently exposed to second hand cigarette smoke. Although I thankfully didn’t have any significant problems to speak of, I began adulthood with a predisposition for poor health.

As promised, president Obama has been focused on making major changes to our broken health care system. Despite the volatile mix of passionate support and heated opposition that it’s inspired, both sides are completely neglecting the most important issue.
There’s no doubt that health insurance is important. We all want the comfort of knowing that we can rely on quality health care during times of need without incurring a lifetime of debt. Unfortunately, the rapidly growing cost of health care has risen out of reach for many people, and as a result, has created a significant challenge for the US government that is likely to affect us all.

The majority of the population has no idea about the corruption, greed, and arrogance that our food system is based on or how much of an effect these factors have on our health and the welfare of the planet. It can be very difficult to convince others of the severity of this problem, but we fortunately don’t have to because the movie Food, Inc. does a great job of this.
Normally, when I write about a book or movie, I like to share some of the more important and interesting information that I learned. I’m not going to do this with Food, Inc. because I think it’s an extremely important documentary that everyone needs to see!

Throughout our evolution, fish have been an excellent source of nutrition. Although pollution has made a significant amount of seafood unsafe to eat, it’s fortunately still possible to safely enjoy the benefits of high quality seafood.
Why Eat Fish?
Many native cultures survived mostly on seafood prior to the introduction of modernized food. In fact, inland tribes often traveled great distances to the nearest coast to obtain seafood. In some cases, access to the seafood has even instigated battle. As such, the recognition of seafood as an excellent source of nutrition has clearly existed for quite some time.

Part of the reason why people have so much trouble eating well, losing weight, and being healthy is the marketing of products that gives them false hope of a quick and easy solution. FullBar is such a product, and unfortunately, it steers people away from the truth about nutrition, health, and weight loss.
One of the rare and recent occasions that I was watching television, I saw a commercial for FullBar and was inspired by the misleading marketing to write about it.

Modern society has become so obsessed with appearance that people are sacrificing their health and wellbeing just to look better. Are you one of them?
Unfortunately, most people don’t realize that their efforts to improve their appearance may ultimately be compromising their quality of life. In addition, the physical improvements they seek rarely lead to the satisfaction that they expect. Although an attractive appearance can be a great source of satisfaction, it’s certainly not worth compromising your health, and in turn, your ability to live a fulfilling life.
The following are some of the more common ways that people are undermining their health in order to improve their appearance.

Could you use a little more purpose and excitement? Even if you’re not athletic, participating in competition can add unique value to your life that you may never experience otherwise.
I’m an avid tennis player and play in a very competitive and organized nationwide league that’s run by the United States Tennis Association. The league is divided into 17 sections throughout the country and each section is divided into regions. Each region has a number of teams at each skill level that compete throughout the year for a spot at their sectional tournament. The winner of each section then advances to a national tournament.
I belong to the Eastern section, which consists of 6 regions including all of New York state and the northern portion of New Jersey. This past season, my team won our region, and for the first time, I had the chance to play in a sectional tournament this past weekend. In addition to having a great time, the weekend was an excellent representation of the value that competing can provide.

The Environmental Protection Agency and the American Dental Association strongly recommend that amalgam fillings be treated as a biohazard before being used on a tooth and after being removed. If amalgam fillings are too toxic to be disposed of through normal measures, what could possibly lead anyone to believe that it’s safe to have them in your mouth for the rest of your life?
With all the sources of toxins that exist today, including our water, air, food, and many of the personal care products that we use on a daily basis, we certainly don’t need a constant source of toxins right in our mouths. Amalgam fillings are just that!

Have you ever been frustrated or overwhelmed by the demands of living a healthy lifestyle? Did it lead you to think that the effort might not be worthwhile?
Following a healthy lifestyle can be hard work, especially in the beginning when significant changes are often the most necessary. If this weren’t the case, obesity and poor health wouldn’t be nearly as prevalent as they are. Although there are a variety of reasons why people choose to risk their health with unhealthy habits, some of these reasons are more common than others and I thought it would be interesting to take a deeper look at what is holding many people back from a much better quality of life.

Although it’s becoming more widely accepted that nutrition can have a significant impact on your mental wellness, and that part of this is dependent upon the unique nutritional needs we each have, it’s far from being as well known as it should be. As a result, many people are unfortunately missing out on a simple and natural solution to both mental and physiological dysfunction.
After reading Nutrition and Your Mind by George Watson PhD, I was left with two compelling thoughts. I was pleasantly surprised that I could gain so much from a book that was published in 1972, but highly disappointed to see how little has changed since then, and in some ways, has even become worse.
